About Case Matrix Network

The Case Matrix Network (CMN) seeks to empower national and international actors working to provide criminal accountability for core international crimes and serious human rights violations, by providing access to legal information, legal expertise and knowledge tools. Without cost to the user, CMN supports every procedural phase of adjudication from fact-finding, investigation, analysis, management of case files, and case selection. CMN is a department of the Centre for International Law Research and Policy (CILRAP), an international non-profit organisation registered in Belgium.

Purpose of the Role

We are looking for an analytical and creative Project Officer with a minimum of 1-year of work experience, who will join a dynamic network of international criminal justice practitioners to provide essential support to CMN’s activities. The position is subject to confirmation of funding.

Main Responsibilities

  • Assist in the organisation of trainings, events and in-country missions;
  • Support the preparation of periodic narrative and financial reports, addressing the milestones, achievements, risks and sustainability factors;
  • Maintain project calendars according to the agreed timeline and communicate potential risks or delays;
  • Edit and format reports, briefing papers, event materials and blog posts on project activities, and occasionally translate short documents;
  • Draft social media and outreach materials and update relevant sections of the CMN blog.

Skills and Experiences

A minimum of 1-year work experience (including internships), ideally in an international or national justice environment, with at least 5 of the following skills and experiences:

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and manage time effectively, often under time pressure;
  • Demonstrable fluency (written, spoken and reading) in English and Spanish/French;
  • Experience of budgets;
  • Excellent IT and MS Office skills including spreadsheets and databases, editing and formatting;
  • Knowledge of project funding procedures, guidelines, implementation and monitoring;
  • Familiarity with digital and social media communications strategies/tools.


  • Postgraduate degree in political sciences, international relations, law, business administration or equivalent.

  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Demonstrable communication and interpersonal skills (verbal, written and team-based);
