About Case Matrix Network

The Case Matrix Network (CMN) seeks to empower national and international actors working to provide criminal accountability for core international crimes and serious human rights violations, by providing access to legal information, legal expertise and knowledge tools. Without cost to the user, CMN supports every procedural phase of adjudication from fact-finding, investigation, analysis, management of case files, and case selection. CMN is a department of the Centre for International Law Research and Policy (CILRAP), an international non-profit organisation registered in Belgium.

Purpose of the Role

We are looking for a committed Project Officer with a minimum of 2 years of work experience, who will join a dynamic network of international criminal justice practitioners to provide essential support to CMN’s activities in Colombia. The position is subject to confirmation of funding.

Main Responsibilities

  • Assist in the organisation of trainings, events and in-country missions including logistics, programmes and supporting materials;
  • Drafting, editing and formatting of reports, briefing papers, event materials and blog posts;
  • Research of legal documents, policies and reports relevant to the priorities of the Colombia team;
  • Adaptation and translation of short documents (English ⇔ Spanish).

Skills and Experiences

A minimum of 2-years work experience (including internships). Skills required include:

  • Demonstrable knowledge of international criminal justice issues; practical experience of international criminal justice issues and environments is an asset;
  • Familiarity with legal systems and policy environments of Colombia;
  • Demonstrable fluency (written, spoken and reading) in English and Spanish;
  • Competence in event organisation;
  • Excellent IT and Office skills: editing and formatting.


  • Degree in law, political sciences, international relations or equivalent with proven knowledge of international criminal justice (through modules/dissertation).

  • Critical information seeking, capacity to identify problems and solutions;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Demonstrable communication and interpersonal skills (verbal, written and team-based);
  • Excellent time management skills and flexibility to complete tasks outside of working hours, where required.
